City Trees

oaktreeIf you haven’t heard, Spokane City residents are eligible for two free trees next weekend, April 17th and 18th. But how do you plant and maintain them once you get them? Check out the Urban Forestry department for information on street trees, including permits, tree facts, and programs such as the Heritage Tree program. If you live in a more rural area and have a small forest, the Spokane Conservation District has a Forestry department that can assist private property owners with tree-related issues like wildlife restoration or insect management. The EWU Extension Office has more information about trees and forests, including specific gardening advice for trees and shrubs. If you live in an apartment, don’t have room for trees, or just want to see what mature tree specimens look like, you can always visit Finch Arboretum.
