State Government Resources

Social Services Online

Staff at the library often get asked for local social service resources in Spokane. One of our more useful online listings is the nonprofit Fig Tree Community Resources Directory. There are listings on everything from affordable housing, food banks, English as a Second Language classes, and senior centers. Find environmental, arts, and justice organizations listed, as well. It’s a good source for people who need the services, but also for people looking for volunteer opportunities. For an easy way to contact government social services, WIN 211, the Washington Information Network, has a comprehensive listing. People can even call 2-1-1 on any phone to talk to agents who will help connect them to the appropriate agencies.
