Did you know…
You can now download audiobooks (eAudiobooks) from Spokane Public Library to your personal computer!
Borrow up to 50 at a time! -- If you have a valid Spokane Public Library card and a NetLibrary account you can borrow up to 50 downloadable audiobooks at a time. Like other library materials, check-out time is three weeks. (Due to DRM [digital rights management] these audiobooks can not be checked in early or be burned to compact disc.)
Listen on an mp3 device or your personal computer. (Select titles are iPod and Zune compatible.)
More than 5,100 titles! -- Locate them using the library’s online catalog or NetLibrary Media Center software. Do a keyword search for the term “downloadable audio” for a current list of titles. Clicking here will show you the results of that search with all downloadable audiobook titles.
Step 1 - Create your NetLibrary Account by clicking here.
Look for the "Create a free account" link in the upper right-hand corner of the page and follow the instructions to create your account. If you are doing this step outside the walls of one of the Spokane Public Library branches, you will need a valid Spokane Public Library card before you can proceed beyond this point.
Step 2 - Install the NetLibrary Media Center (available after your account has been created). The Washington State Library has produced a guide for downloading and using NetLibrary content.
Step 3 - Find and Download (either to your computer or portable device).
You can also find items by browsing the library's catalog and looking for the downloadable audiobook icon.
Items will automatically check in from your computer after 3 weeks (they do not expire from your mp3 player).
Step 4 - Listen and enjoy.
List of compatible devices: If you're not sure whether your portable device is compatible check NetLibrary's list of supported portable players on their website.
Questions - You can email NetLibrary here, or call NetLibrary at (800) 758-5995. At the phone menu prompt select option 3, followed by option 1.
