During the summer the library offers reading programs for kids and teens. We emphasize summer reading for several reasons:
• Kids who read over the summer tend to do better academically when they head back to school.
• We want kids to read for enjoyment. Books beat boredom every time!
• It’s fun! This summer you can experiment with Mobius Science, get loud with Taiko drums or play archeologist for a day; all at your local library!
This year we want you to dig into reading with us. Stop by any branch of the library to sign up and get your reading log to record the number of books or the minutes you read. You can also sign up online here . Read 15 books or for 15 hours by August 31 and you’ll earn a free book. Be sure to also check out the fun events we have planned throughout the summer.
