This is a full time position best suited for someone that is always looking for what the community is talking about, and turning what they find into compelling public presentations. A Bachelor’s degree is required, a MLIS or Master’s degree is preferred. We will consider any equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

The Current Affairs Specialist will use their background to look at the facets and key arguments of a topic and work with experts in our community like: local leaders, organizers, experts, journalists, educators and others to develop compelling programs, moderate panel discussions and provide other learning opportunities. A typical week would include planning and putting on programs at all Spokane Public Library branches, studying the latest issues of concern in Spokane and finding local experts who can engage a public audience.

The general schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday, although some evenings and weekends will be necessary.

The hiring salary range is $45,000 – $55,000 and includes comprehensive benefit coverage including medical, dental, and a defined-benefit retirement plan

Our new buildings have been designed to provide 57 different meeting spaces ideal for special events. Now is the perfect time to find an enthusiastic and well-rounded Special Events Coordinator to manage special events at the library including weddings, fundraisers, banquets, corporate parties, conferences, and more.

The Special Events Coordinator will market, plan, and coordinate an efficient and effective use of Library event spaces maximizing the use of available public spaces while serving community needs. A typical week would include planning, coordination and execution of multiple events across a variety of Spokane Public Library locations. The Special Events Coordinator will make sure private and public special events go smoothly, exceed customer expectations, and establish the Library as a destination for special events.

This is a full time position best suited for someone that with experience in event management along with a background in marketing or public relations. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, however, we will consider any equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

The general schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday and some evenings and weekends will be necessary.
