Extended and Self-Service Hours at the Library

With all the exciting things happening at the Library, we are proud to announce that we will be expanding our service hours! What does this mean for you? You can now visit the Library later and on the weekends.

Library Hours

Monday – Thursday 9-7

Friday – Saturday 10-5

Sunday 12-4

To make this happen, we are implementing self-service hours – a period of time where customers can check out books, access computers, use meeting rooms, and more with limited staff support. If a customer has questions or needs staff assistance, they may visit the Library during full-service hours.

*STA Plaza Library hours are Tuesday-Saturday 1-5pm.

The Hive is solely a self-service location. There is limited staff support here. Guests may access the building by reserving a meeting room and utilizing the door code that is generated upon reservation.

What are self-service hours? 

Self-service hours are times that allow you to access the Library longer every day, with limited staff support. 

What services are available during self-service hours? 

Browse the collection, pick up holds, check out materials, access WiFI and meeting rooms, and use equipment like public computers, printers and fax/scan machines. 

What if I need to talk to Library staff? 

If you require staff assistance, plese stop by during our core full-service hours.  

Why did the Library add self-service hours?  

We want you to have access to Library services when you need them. To offer Library services 7 days/week, we are adding self-service hours every day.  

Why can’t I talk to library staff during self-service hours? 

There is limited staff on-hand during our slower times of the day. We want to ensure that staff working during these hours can focus on more administrative work to help keep library services operate efficiently. We also hope that by offering self-service hours, customers will feel even more ownership of the care of the Library. 

Will Library staffing be impacted by self-service hours?  

Absolutely not! In fact, it gives our Library staff even more opportunity to engage with our customers during peak times. Self-service hours are intended to extend our ability to serve as many people as we can using the resources we already have.  

How will you continue to keep the Libraries safe during self-service hours?  

Some locations have security on site. Additionally, we will remotely monitor each location through cameras inside and outside of the building. Staff will still be onsite, just not actively helping customers during self-service hours. 

Are masks still required for self-service hours?  

Yes. Masks are required whenever you are in any of our Libraries.  

But what if something isn’t working? 

If services are not functioning correctly, please wait until full-service hours when more staff are available to help.
