SUMMER READING

“Read. Read. Read. Just don’t read one type of book. Read different books by various authors so that you develop different style.” – R.L. Stine

KEEP YOUR MIND ENGAGED OVER THE SUMMER

Summer Reading is Spokane Public Library’s free, annual program to keep kids learning over the summer from June 1 – August 31. There are lots of ways to participate!

EARN A FREE BOOK

Challenge yourself to read 15 hours this summer. Track your reading and earn badges using Beanstack. Claim your free prize book at your favorite library between June 1 and September 15.

FANTASTIC FREE PROGRAMS

One of the best parts of Summer Reading are the fun and free activities! This year, join us for programs with Science Speaks Spokane, Build a Bug, and LEGO® events for kids, Nerf Wars and Escape Rooms for teens, and more. Check out our calendar to learn more!

SOMERSAULT INTO SUMMER!

Pick up a copy of Spokane Somersault, the kids summer reading magazine packed with fun activities to make this your best summer yet. Try science experiments, stargazing, reading activities, recipes, and even growing your own food!

THANK YOU, FRIENDS and FOUNDATION!

Thank you to Friends of the Spokane Public Library for their generous annual support of the Summer Reading program and our online reading tracker, Beanstack. With their support, we purchase thousands of summer reading prize books each year and they cover a portion of the printing costs of Spokane Somersault. And thank you to the Spokane Public Library Foundation for their contribution to this year’s Summer Boredom Buster.
