SUMMER READING
“Read. Read. Read. Just don’t read one type of book. Read different books by various authors so that you develop different style.” – R.L. Stine
KEEP YOUR MIND ENGAGED OVER THE SUMMER
Summer Reading is Spokane Public Library’s free, annual program to keep kids learning over the summer from June 1 – September 15. There are lots of ways to participate!
Challenge yourself to read 15 hours this summer. Track your reading, design your own avatar, and earn badges from our online Summer Reading experience. Claim your free prize book at your favorite library between June 1 and September 15.
One of the best parts of Summer Reading are the fun and free activities! This year, join us for Pollinator Party, Launch It, and Art Journal events for kids, and Nerf Wars and Escape Rooms for teens. Check out our calendar to learn more!
Pick up a copy of Spokane Somersault, the kids summer reading magazine packed with fun activities to make this your best summer yet. Try science experiments, stargazing, reading activities, recipes, and even growing your own food! Check out our magazines from last year here: Spokane Somersault 2021 (Kids) or the Summer Boredom Buster 2021, a teen zine.
Thank you to Friends of the Spokane Public Library for their generous annual support of the Summer Reading program. With their support, we purchase thousands of summer reading prize books each year and they cover a portion of the printing costs of Spokane Somersault. And thank you to the Spokane Public Library Foundation for their contribution to this year’s Summer Boredom Buster.
