Spokane is Reading was started in 2001 as a way to inspire conversation among readers about a common topic—a book.
We’re hosting two appearances with Kate Lebo on Wednesday, October 26, 2022: 1pm at North Spokane Library (44 E Hawthorne Rd, Spokane) & 7pm at Central Library (906 W. Main, Downtown Spokane). Both events are open to the public with free admission.

The Book of Difficult Fruit, Kate Lebo’s first collection of essays, was shortlisted for the Pacific Northwest Book Award 2022, and was considered a Best Book of the Year for 2021 by several publications, including:

Spokane Is Reading is the collaborative effort of Spokane Public Library, Spokane County Library District, and Auntie’s Bookstore. Many thanks to Friends of the Spokane Public Library for their generous contributions that support both the event and the purchase of additional copies of the book for the collection. For the past two years, Spokane Is Reading has produced reading lists in lieu of in-person author events. We are excited to return to an in-person community-wide read event this October.
