State Law: Revised Code of Washington

Back to the Washington Law Resources main page

The Revised Code of Washington (RCW) is the compilation of all permanent laws affecting state residents, with amendments added and repealed laws removed. There is a subject index in volume 9. A new edition is issued in even-numbered years with supplements issued in odd-numbered years. See the section called "Finding New Laws and Old Laws" to find recent changes to the law, or laws no longer in effect, and to learn how to look up the Session Law citations given at the end of many sections of the RCW.

Revised Code of Washington, 9 volumes plus supplements. In Reference at the Downtown Library. Call Number: R 348.797 WASHING.  Search by keyword on the  RCW on the Internet.  Or browse the RCW on the Internet by Title number.

Crime and the RCW

Many people look in the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) for the penalties for certain crimes. They are found in Title 9 and Title 9a of the RCW.

You may also want to look at the Adult Sentencing Manual on the website of the Washington State Sentencing Guidelines Commission.
