You’ve heard of the Magic School Bus, but have you considered how wonderful an affordable, safe, and effective public transportation system is?
Bus systems are complex and require a lot of care and attention. Here in town, Spokane Transit Authority makes sure our public transportation gets people to the places they need to be. It may seem like the bus arrives at the bus stop from out of nowhere before mysteriously continuing its journey, but behind the scenes there are drivers, mechanics, dispatch operators, strategists, planners, communicators, and many more working together to ensure that our public transit works well.
To learn more about this complex system, we recently paid a visit to the Spokane Transit Authority. From the Plaza downtown, to their mechanical garages and dispatch rooms, we got to see first-hand the many skilled people working together to keep our buses running smoothly. We also got to learn more about the future of public transit in Spokane, including the double-decker bus which was just introduced to our local bus system.
