Inland Northwest Poetry Salon 2026 

The 3rd annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon will feature eight generative workshops, all guided by local poets. This daylong event aims to spotlight local creatives, celebrate the craft of poetry, and welcome writers at all stages of their writing lives. 

Please note that the workshops in the smaller room (Study Room A) require registration. No registration is required for the events happening in the larger room (Events Room).  

Saturday, May 16th, 12-4pm at the Liberty Park Library

Synesthesia: Let’s Get Sensory, with Sarah Rooney - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Events Room 

A poetry workshop inspired by the senses, led by poet Sarah Rooney.  

Infusing Poetry with Your Experiences in Nature - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Studio A 

Develop your long-term relationship with poetry and nature in this writing workshop led by local writer, publisher, arts organizer and activist Greg Bem.

Prosey Poems with Spokane Poet Laureate Mery Noel Smith - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Events Room 

Write prose poems with Spokane’s PoLo!  

Finding Poetry in Unexpected Places with Elisa Vigil - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Study A 

Get inspired by finding poetry in surprising places, such as TikTok videos, song lyrics, and visual art.  

Third Session 2:00pm – 2:50pm 

Expanding the Ekphrastic: Using Dance to Write the Body - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Events Room 

A poetry workshop inspired by movement, led by poet Grace Anne Anderson. This workshop is part of the 3rd annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon. 

Collaborative Writing: A Community Writing Workshop - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Study A 

Write in community with poet Linea Jantz. 

Fourth Session 3:00pm – 3:50pm  

Replacing Shame with Agency: A Poetry Workshop - Finding a Home in Poetry for the Hard Things Liberty Park Events Room 

Seek solace in writing poetry about “the shameful, the painful” in this workshop led by writer Stacy Boe Miller, the former Poet Laureate of Moscow, Idaho.  

Imagery, Poetry, and Prose with Margaret Albaugh - Inland Northwest Poetry Salon Liberty Park Study A 

Experiment with how images and language can converse in this workshop led by writer, artist, and photographer Margaret Albaugh.
