SUMMER READING

“Read. Read. Read. Just don’t read one type of book. Read different books by various authors so that you develop different style.” – R.L. Stine

BEAT THE SUMMER SLIDE

While a Summer Slide sounds fun, it’s actually what happens when kids lose learning achievement over the summer. Summer Reading is Spokane Public Library’s free, annual program to keep kids learning over the summer from June 15 – August 31. There are lots of ways to participate!

EARN A FREE BOOK

Challenge yourself to read 15 hours this summer. Track your reading, design your own avatar, and earn badges from our online Summer Reading experience. Claim your free prize book at your favorite library between June 15 and September 15.

FANTASTIC FREE PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES

One of the best parts of Summer Reading are the fun and free activities! This year, join us across from Ice Age Floods Playground on July 12, July 29, and August 9 at 11am for an outdoor StoryTime! Also, tune in online for virtual STEM programs.

SOMERSAULT INTO SUMMER!

Pick up a copy of Spokane Somersault, the kids summer reading magazine packed with fun activities to make this your best summer yet. Try science experiments, stargazing, reading activities, recipes, and even growing your own food!

THANK YOU, FRIENDS!

Thank you to Friends of the Spokane Public Library for their generous annual support of the Summer Reading program. With their support, we purchase thousands of summer reading prize books each year and they cover a portion of the printing costs of Spokane Somersault
