May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The National Alliance on Mental Illness website states that the month is “dedicated to eradicating stigma, extending support, fostering public education, and advocating for policies that prioritize the well-being of individuals and families affected by mental illness.” You can download the NAMI toolkit and more online at Mental Health Awareness Month | NAMI. NAMI has a local chapter here in Spokane, too, where you can find peer-to-peer support, support groups, and more. Other local organizations to contact for support include Frontier Behavioral Health and CHAS Behavioral Health.
Here, too, is a selection of recently published titles about mental health, all published within the last year or two.
