Adopted by Spokane Public Library Board of Trustees on October 18, 2006; revised October 16, 2018.
1.1 The Spokane Public Library encourages all customers to visit the library and make use of the resources available in its special collections. This policy specifically addresses areas of the library, including youth areas, computer labs, special collections and other special use spaces. Tables, seating, and technology in these areas are made available for the use of those using these areas. General seating is available in other areas of the library.
2.1 In order to ensure adequate seating in proximity to the collections and to use furniture for its intended purpose, areas housing youth collections, computer labs, special collections, and other special use spaces are reserved for those using those specific areas. These spaces include, but are not limited to, the Children’s areas, Genealogy, LevelUp Coworking Space, the Northwest Room, and The Community Lens. Persons not actively using these areas for their intended purposes are not permitted to sit in these areas and should sit in the general seating areas of the library.
