Join Us for the WA LGBTQ+ Survey Information Session in Spokane!

Calling all LGBTQ+ people and allies in Washington State! Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 11, at 4pm, and join us at Central Library for an interactive information session about the WA LGBTQ+ Survey. This event, meant for adults and adolescents ages 11 to 17 accompanied by parents/guardians provides an opportunity to learn about this important effort and how you can help shape Washington State policies.

What is the WA LGBTQ+ Survey?

The WA LGBTQ+ Survey is a groundbreaking statewide study that aims to gather anonymous information about the lived experiences, issues, and needs of LGBTQ+ people in Washington. Whether you’re a long-time Washington resident or new to the state, this survey provides a way for you to share your voice and contribute to the development of inclusive and equitable policies that reflect our state’s diversity.

This survey, conducted by an all-LGBTQ+ research team led by Dr. Traci Gillig, an Assistant Professor in Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, and funded by the WA LGBTQ Commission/Office of the Governor, is an important tool for advocating for positive change in our communities. More details are available here.

Why Is This Survey Important?

Participating in this survey provides essential data that will guide statewide decision-making, ensuring that LGBTQ+ folks’ concerns are acknowledged and addressed. This is your opportunity to shape the future and create a more inclusive Washington for all.
Furthermore, survey takers are eligible to enter a drawing for a $50 e-gift card as an expression of gratitude for their time and participation.

Don’t Wait—The Deadline is Approaching!

The survey closes on January 31, 2025. With the deadline quickly approaching, here is your chance to ensure that your voice is heard in this critical project. If you haven’t already taken the survey, you can find it here.

Join Us for the Information Session

If you’re interested in the survey or want to learn more about its objectives, the information session on January 11 is a great opportunity to learn and ask questions. Members of the WA LGBTQ+ Survey team will be present to share information, answer questions, and discuss how you can help spread the word through your networks.

This event provides an opportunity to interact with others who are committed to creating a more inclusive and supportive community for LGBTQ+ people in Washington. We’d love to see you there, whether you want to participate in the survey, help spread the word, or learn more.
