And did you know all Spokane Public Schools students have library cards using their student ID numbers? The card number is 27413081 + the full student ID number and the PIN number is the month and day of their birthday (MM/DD).

Kindergarten Readiness
The transition from preschool to kindergarten can be an overwhelming process, but our Early Learning Specialist has got your back with Kindergarten Countdown Storytime. This series of weekly storytime events helps boost skills in literacy, social-emotional learning, math, and many others for children to feel more prepared as they enter the primary school system.
In addition to these storytimes, from birth all the way up to kindergarten, families can participate in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge on Beanstack to instill a love of literacy and learning as early as possible.
Grades K-5
In addition to fun and educational events all year long in topics ranging from STEM, art, and environmental education, we have a variety of research databases that make learning a blast! Here are some fun ones:
- ProQuest CultureGrams: Cultural and geographic fact sheets on countries, U.S. states, and Canadian provinces.
- World Book Kids: With thousands of articles, multimedia content, and a collection of biographies, World Book Kids is designed to encourage young learners to be curious.
- OverDrive: Kids Magazines: Read digital versions of your favorite kid’s magazines for free! National Geographic Kids, Anorak, Highlights – you name it your favorite titles are available.

Grades 6-12
Your middle and high school years are a pivotal time for making new friends, creating memories, and advancing into new learning adventures. Our Teen Librarian hosts fun events for middle and high schoolers from Anime Club and Cozy Hangouts to Game On and Virtual Reality. Students in these age groups can also join the Teen Discord Server!
Breakdown of Events for Middle and High Schoolers
- Anime Club: Watch anime together and make crafts.
- Cozy Hangout: Enjoy fun crafts like diamond art, cross stitch, and Perler bead creations with a snack and warm beverages.
- Game On: Play virtual games with new friends!
- Virtual Reality: Enjoy our VR headsets and play games.
While making community and meeting new friends is important, school is also a priority! Here are some great databases for middle and high schoolers to use:
